Polly Bell
New Design Britain finalist
Polly Bell, a Textile Design graduate from the University College Of Falmouth, has designed
‘The Clearing’, a hand drawn imagery and digitally printed design, on natural wool delaine and 'Arctic Exploration’, a hand drawn imagery, manually printed, on linen.
Polly’s award winning textiles use detailed illustration to create unique pattern work often depicting a scene or telling a story. Through the exploration of social and environmental subject matter, Polly draws upon collected imagery to add a context to her designs.
A variety of screen-printing and digital processes are used to develop a diverse range of fabrics. Materials are locally sourced and made
from natural fibres where possible, as sustainability has become a key consideration.
The latest collection celebrates our natural surroundings initially responding to recent documentaries about Charles Darwin and the Galapagos Islands. With this specific subject focus, an intelligent combination has been found between traditional drawing, contemporary pattern and atmospheric use of colour. This collection expresses Polly’s passion to design textiles that have depth and a strong narrative for both fashion and interior markets.
