13 January 2014 PRESS RELEASE
A new proposition for INTERIORS UK
INTERIORS UK, organised by UBM Live Built Environment, is set to become The Furniture Show at May Design Series.
May Design Series 2014 will host close to 400 exhibitors right through from Furniture, Decor, Lighting [including Arc], Kitchens, Bathrooms and DX. The Furniture Show at May Design Series 2014 will welcome a selection of INTERIORS UK 2014 exhibitors. The full relocation of exhibitors will be completed ready for the 2015 edition of the show. This new proposition will create the UK’s definitive international furnishings fair making a one-stop destination for new products, covering each interior space.
This offering responds to extensive customer research revealing an overwhelming demand for a unifying large scale, international event attracting UK and international buyers and exhibitors. This union will give the UK interiors market an unrivalled platform for British companies to gain exposure to export markets at the right time of year, ready for retailers to procure in advance of the critical Autumn/Winter sales period.
Brand Director for INTERIORS UK, Suzie Ager commented: “Following detailed consultation with our customers we are evolving our proposition in order to best support this dynamic and vibrant industry, creating a prosperous future. By establishing a new format this signature event will provide manufacturers , suppliers and retailers – small and large, interiors designers and contract specifiers – a platform from which to grow their business now and for the future.”
The industry has expressed their support for the move. Jackie Bazeley, Managing Director of the British Furniture Manufacturers said: “The new format will provide a unique opportunity for the show to become the UK exhibition to attract overseas buyers. This opportunity will also support any export activity being undertaken by companies within the industry.”
Andrew Mitchell, MD at Artistic Upholstery, who will be exhibiting at the 2014 edition, commented: “We are really excited to join the 2014 line up. Finally, a definitive event based in the capital offering the chance for us to meet key UK and International buyers. It’s a much more commercially viable offering giving us the opportunity to develop and nurture key industry relationships for now and the long term.”
Artistic Upholstery will join a host of names already confirmed for next year’s May Design Series, including John Sankey, Ercol, David Gundry, Henderson Russell, Ashley Manor, Caxton’s, Corndell, Gascoigne Design and, Highgrove beds to name a few.
The inaugural May Design Series attracted a wealth of industry professionals split across interior designers, independent and multiple retailers and contract specifiers. Robert Lee, Director at Lee Longlands, shows his support for the show: “We attend INTERIORS UK each year and are thrilled to hear of this new and exciting proposition for the industry; a dynamic platform that will also draw in a diverse range of suppliers and new products, ideal for a retailer like us.”
